Reading These Graphs

Hyper is a Cisco Catalyst 6509, Sup1A. Styx is a NetEnforcer 701F. Bar is the Juniper M40 router on our provider's side.

Hyper is fed from core0 and core255. Traffic to I2 is routed to vlan 3 (see the Bar vlan 3 graph below). Traffic to I1 first goes through Styx and is then sent to Bar along vlan 2.

Current NetEnforcer Policy

Rules are applied from top to bottom based on a best match of classification criteria.

Overall outbound cap: 120Mbps

  • P2P Applications (L7 classification): 10Mbps outbound maximum
  • Network Critical (ARP & specific L3 ports): priority 10 outbound
  • Interactive (SSH, Telnet): 30Kbps reserved per flow
  • Infrastructure (specific L3 ports): priority 7 outbound
  • All other traffic: priority 6 outbound
